For months, a shadow of fear had fallen over Kenyasi. Residents spoke in hushed tones about the rising tide of robberies, each incident chipping away at their sense of security. The sound of motorbikes at night became a trigger for anxiety, the once-familiar streets now perceived as hunting grounds for criminals. But recently, a wave of relief washed through the community as the Ashanti Regional Police Command announced the arrest of several suspected armed robbers, offering a glimmer of hope that the terror might finally be coming to an end. The initial **Kenyasi robbery**, which occurred on May 8, 2025, spurred a swift response from law enforcement, setting in motion the events that led to these crucial arrests.

The incident on May 8th unfolded with chilling precision. According to police reports, Umar Issah, Sherif Mohammed, and Abdul Jalelu, riding on motorbikes, accosted two residents, brandishing weapons and robbing them of their mobile phones. The **Kenyasi robbery** suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident by a vigilant police patrol team. “During the pursuit, suspects Sharif Mohammed sustained a gunshot wound on the right rib, whiles the others also suffered various injuries and are receiving medical treatment at Komfo Anokye under strict police protection,” stated DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Police PRO. Police confirmed the recovery of the stolen mobile phones and the motorbikes used in the operation, providing concrete evidence linking the suspects to the crime. This **Ashanti Police arrest** demonstrated the effectiveness of the patrol and the commitment to swiftly responding to criminal activity.

In a separate but equally significant development, police apprehended Michael Owusu Ansah, more infamously known as ‘Baby Last.’ For nearly a decade, Baby Last had been a ghost in the system, wanted in connection with the 2016 murder of police officer Frank Essel. His capture represents a major victory for law enforcement. Baby Last has allegedly confessed to a string of street and residential robberies, terrorizing communities with knives, pistols, and even pump-action guns. Alongside Baby Last, law enforcement also arrested his alleged accomplices: Emmanuel Owusu (alias Cassidy), Maxwell Gyimah (alias Nana Kwame), Sudais Oxford Ntiamoah (alias The Man Sudais), and Rhano Okyere (alias Demon). While these arrests mark a significant step forward, Abedi, another alleged member of the gang, remains at large, prompting an ongoing manhunt. The police are actively working to recover the weapons believed to have been used in these robberies, aiming to dismantle the entire operation.

The five arrested suspects appeared before the Atasomanso Circuit Court on May 13, 2025. The court ordered their remand into police custody, setting the next court appearance for June 4, 2025. This period will allow detectives to build a solid case against them. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and they are committed to ensuring that justice is served for the victims of these crimes. Community cooperation is crucial at this stage; residents are encouraged to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation.

The recent arrests have instilled a renewed sense of hope among Kenyasi residents. The apprehension of both the **Kenyasi robbery** suspects and Baby Last’s gang offers a tangible sign that the police are actively working to protect the community. While fear may not vanish overnight, these actions demonstrate a commitment to maintaining law and order, fostering a safer environment for all. It is anticipated that community initiatives and programs will be implemented to further enhance security and build stronger relationships between residents and law enforcement.

The recent arrests mark a pivotal moment for Kenyasi. The capture of the **Kenyasi robbery** suspects and the notorious Baby Last represents a significant step in restoring peace of mind to the community. The Ashanti Police have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of residents. As the investigations continue, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police, working together to create a safer and more secure Kenyasi for everyone.
