Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra marked the start of the festive season on December 19, 2023 with its signature Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, coinciding with the hotel’s tenth‑anniversary celebrations.

The event brought together high‑profile guests, including Maame Efua Houadjeto, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority; Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President; and Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association.

General Manager Silvia Rajniak, the hotel’s first female GM, welcomed attendees and reflected on a decade of luxury hospitality, stating, “For a decade, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City has stood as a symbol of hospitality, elegance and service in the heart of Accra, and we are privileged to call Ghana our home.”

Rajniak added that the annual lighting “offers a cherished opportunity to connect with clients, families and friends, strengthening relationships and fostering a community of hope, joy and togetherness.”

This year’s ceremony also highlighted the hotel’s recent innovations, notably the launch of ASANA Bar and Kitchen, a venue that blends Asian techniques with Ghanaian flavours, underscoring Kempinski’s commitment to globally inspired dining.

Community impact remains central to the brand. Under its expanded ‘10 Acts of Kindness’ programme, the hotel supports breast‑cancer patients with Breast Care International, donates school supplies to Accra Sempe Basic School, promotes sustainable cycling, and partners with Accra Regional Hospital to refurbish its oncology ward and paediatric day room.

The centerpiece of the night was a striking Christmas tree designed by Ambiance by Talata. Designer Talata explained the theme “Christmas is Evergreen,” noting that the tree carries scented bubbles crafted locally, allowing guests “to take home a piece of Christmas magic.”

Exclusive ornaments from the tree will be displayed throughout December in the hotel’s East Lobby and the Galleria Mall exhibition.

The lighting of the tree bathed the hotel in warm golden light, symbolising the joy of the season and serving as the crowning moment of Kempinski’s ten‑year milestone.

Festive performances by children from Roman Ridge School, gospel singer Enuonyam and highlife star Kwabena Kwabena added vibrancy to the evening, reflecting the hotel’s blend of elegance and heartfelt hospitality.

As the lights glimmered, guests celebrated not only a holiday tradition but also a decade of cultural celebration, innovation and community service, setting a hopeful tone for the year ahead.
