Police in Kasoa have arrested three men following allegations of sexual abuse against their own daughters. The arrests came after a formal complaint was lodged by the Awutu Senya East Municipal Education Directorate.
According to officials, the girls confided in the directorate’s Girl-Child and Guidance and Counselling coordinators, leading to immediate intervention. The directorate expressed deep concern over the rising number of child protection violation reports within the municipality.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest of the three fathers, stating they are currently assisting with investigations. “All three suspects were picked up shortly after the complaint was filed and are cooperating with us,” a police spokesperson said.
Education authorities have reiterated the need for stronger collaboration between institutions to better protect children. They emphasized that this situation underscores the ongoing vulnerabilities faced by young people in the area.
A significant concern raised by the directorate is the lack of a Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) office in Awutu Senya East. Despite CHRAJ’s widespread presence across the country, the absence of a local office hinders timely access to crucial support services for victims and their families, officials explained.
The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding child abuse to come forward and assist with the investigations.
