Black Stars assistant coach John Paintsil says Ghana can progress from the tough Group L at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana has been drawn into Group L alongside England, 2022 World Cup semifinalists Croatia and Panama – a lineup widely regarded as one of the tournament’s most challenging.

Paintsil insisted the Black Stars possess the quality to defy expectations. “It’s a tricky group, one Ghanaians cannot underrate. Forget about the names – I believe it’s a group that will bring the best out of the team,” he said.

He added, “Our performances in the qualifiers were fantastic. We have a squad of highly skilled players who can rise to any challenge.” The assistant coach highlighted the team’s cohesion and recent form as key assets.

This will be Ghana’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece, and the nation is eager to return to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.

Fans will be watching the opening group matches closely, hopeful that the optimism voiced by Paintsil translates into results on the world stage.
