The Joana Gyan Cudjoe Teacher Initiative has provided a significant boost to basic education in the Amenfi Central District, benefiting nearly 9,000 pupils and supporting over 130 teachers across 39 schools.
The initiative, spearheaded by Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, offers monthly financial assistance to schools within the district. This aims to alleviate the financial strain on teaching and learning resources.
Over a period of seven months, the programme has injected a total of GH₵589,680 into the district’s educational system, with a monthly disbursement of GH₵84,240. This funding is designed to directly improve the quality of education provided.
Schools benefiting from the initiative include Agyedum D/A, Obing Methodist Primary, Chichiso No.2, and many others throughout the Amenfi Central District. Each school received an allocation between GH₵8,400 and GH₵22,400 during the seven-month period, calculated based on their teacher-student ratio.
“We recognize the pivotal role teachers play in nurturing the potential of our children and building a brighter future for the district,” Joana Gyan Cudjoe stated. “This initiative is a direct investment in their hard work and dedication, and we believe it will yield positive results for years to come.”
The Joana Gyan Cudjoe Teacher Initiative is anticipated to address critical challenges faced by schools in the Amenfi Central District, ultimately improving learning outcomes and strengthening the overall educational landscape. The MP’s office has indicated they will continue to monitor the initiative’s impact and explore opportunities for expansion in the future.
