Bernardo Silva has revealed that Man City are looking forward to playing Real Madrid in the Champions League Last-16.
City qualified from their group at a canter after remaining undefeated in their six games and finishing with double the amount of points as their closest competitor.
Yet the reward for their showing wasn’t a great one, as they drew Spanish giants Real Madrid in first knockout round after the Spanish giants finished second in their group behind Paris Saint-Germain.
Los Blancos are the most successful team in the history of the prestigious competition and had won it five times in a row before Liverpool broke their dominance last season.
Despite the enormity of the task at hand, Bernardo insists that City want to play the biggest teams in Europe.
“I think it’s nice, it’s good. It’s very tough because we play against a team that has won 13 Champions Leagues, so it’s not going to be easy as you can imagine,” the Portuguese told Man City.
“But it’s good when you play in this competitions, the Champions League, the Premier League, the World Cup, the Euros, you want to play the big games, come on.
“Obviously it’s going to be tough but, as I said, when you go the final stages of these competitions you have to play the tough teams and you have to go through them if you want to win it.
“So that’s what we’ll try to do, knowing that we play a great team, with a great manager and some of the best players ever.”
