In a strategic move aimed at amplifying para-sports advocacy and development, the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC Ghana) has reassigned Mr. Isaac Tetteh to the crucial role of Media Officer and Administrator. This decision, clarifying Mr. Tetteh’s broader responsibilities following a public statement from the Ghana Adaptive Boxing Federation (GHABF), underscores NPC Ghana’s commitment to its 2020–2027 Strategic Plan. The move highlights the importance of a unified approach to advancing opportunities for athletes with disabilities in Ghana. Mr. Tetteh’s new role will be pivotal in coordinating projects, engaging stakeholders, and elevating the visibility of para-sports across the nation.

NPC Ghana’s mandate extends far beyond individual federations, encompassing a wide range of activities designed to promote para-sports, increase its visibility, and foster an inclusive environment for athletes. Mr. Tetteh’s role is strategically aligned with the NPC’s 2020–2027 Strategic Plan, which outlines ambitious goals for the development of para-sports in Ghana. According to NPC Ghana, “All appointed media and administrative officers assigned to federations operate under the authority and framework of NPC Ghana.” This alignment is expected to have a significant impact on the overall para-sports ecosystem, ensuring a cohesive and coordinated approach to development and promotion.

Mr. Tetteh’s responsibilities extend beyond the GHABF, benefiting all para-sports disciplines under the NPC Ghana umbrella. He will be instrumental in coordinating various para-sports projects, working to ensure their smooth implementation and success. A key aspect of his role involves engaging with diverse stakeholders, from government agencies to corporate sponsors, fostering collaboration and securing vital support for para-sports initiatives. Furthermore, Mr. Tetteh will manage media relations, crafting compelling narratives that showcase the talent, dedication, and achievements of Ghanaian para-athletes.

The upcoming 1st Open Para-Sport and Classification Festival represents a landmark initiative with the potential to transform the landscape of para-sports in Ghana. Mr. Tetteh will play a crucial role in supporting this event, which aims to position Ghana as a leading hub for para-sports in Africa. The festival will serve as a platform for identifying and nurturing talented para-athletes, providing them with opportunities to compete and develop their skills. NPC Ghana has acknowledged the invaluable contributions of various federations and the Technical Committee in developing this groundbreaking festival.

NPC Ghana has issued a call for unity and professionalism within the Ghanaian para-sports community. While respecting the autonomy of individual federations, the NPC emphasizes the importance of working together towards a shared mission: empowering persons with disabilities through sport. This spirit of inclusivity is essential for the continued growth and success of the para-sports movement in Ghana. “We are one movement, one vision and together, we rise,” states NPC Ghana, encapsulating the collective commitment to advancing para-sports.

Isaac Tetteh’s appointment as Media Officer and Administrator marks a pivotal moment for para-sports in Ghana. By focusing on strategic alignment, project coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement, Mr. Tetteh is well-positioned to drive the realization of a unified, inclusive, and globally competitive para-sport ecosystem. The forthcoming 1st Open Para-Sport and Classification Festival further solidifies Ghana’s dedication to establishing itself as a continental hub for para-sports. The message is clear: through collaboration and unwavering professionalism, Ghana is poised to empower individuals with disabilities and propel para-sports to unprecedented levels of achievement.
