The stakes are high, with attractive prizes and scholarship opportunities awaiting the most articulate and persuasive debaters. This article delves into the details of the ongoing zonal contests, the prizes that await, and what to expect at the official launch.
More than 100 senior high schools are currently participating in the preliminary rounds across the Ashanti Region, each hoping to secure a place in the main competition. The schools have been divided into four zones, each hosting its own series of intense debates. These zonal contests serve as a crucial filter, shortlisting the schools that demonstrate the highest levels of preparedness, clarity, and teamwork. Students are grappling with topical national and global issues, showcasing their ability to construct compelling arguments and deliver persuasive presentations. The judging criteria emphasize not only the content of the arguments but also the students’ presentation skills and their ability to work effectively as a team.
The ultimate goal for these schools is to be among the top 20 that will qualify for the main competition. From each of the four zones, the five highest-performing schools will advance, ensuring that the main debate features the very best talent from across the Ashanti Region.
Eric Nkoom, the Event Coordinator, emphasized the attractive prizes and scholarship opportunities that await the excelling schools and individual debaters participating in the 2025 Luv FM High School Debate.
According to Mr. Nkoom, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will be offering scholarships to this year’s winners. Furthermore, opportunities for scholarships to study in the United States and Germany are also on the table, providing life-changing prospects for these talented students.
Over the years, the Luv FM High School Debate has built a strong reputation for nurturing critical thinking, public speaking, and civic awareness among students in the Ashanti Region.
