"Two Arrested Over Viral Assault on Minor"

Local News

The Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has arrested two individuals in connection with a disturbing video circulating on social media showing the molestation of an 11-year-old girl.

Police have identified the suspects as Grace Mensah, 75, the victim’s grandmother, and Godfred Osei Akoto, 25. They were apprehended in Agona Jamasi, in the Ashanti Region.

According to a police brief, the video surfaced on TikTok and other platforms, drawing significant public concern and prompting immediate action. The victim has been rescued and is currently receiving support, while the suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigation.

Preliminary investigations reveal the video was initially posted by a user named Tina Adjei, with the TikTok handle @tina.adjei7. The footage depicts a young man assaulting a girl while an elderly woman watched on.

Police proceeded to Agona Jamasi where Grace Mensah was arrested. She reportedly confirmed her relationship as the grandmother of the victim.

Godfred Osei Akoto, the man seen in the video, was also arrested following further investigations. In his statement, Osei Akoto claimed the victim left home on December 6, 2025, and didn’t return. He stated he found her near the Presbyterian School at approximately midnight.

He alleges that Grace Mensah authorised him to punish the child, resulting in the assault which was then recorded and shared online. “The grandmother gave me permission to discipline the child,” Osei Akoto reportedly said during interrogation.

The Police brief further indicates that Grace Mensah’s account during questioning corroborated Osei Akoto’s version of events. Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice for the victim.
