Golden Globes 2026 Nominees Announced

The Golden Globe nominations are in, signaling the official start of Hollywood’s award season. Announced on Monday, the shortlists recognize the biggest films, shows, and stars of the past year, with winners to be revealed on January 11th, setting the stage for the Oscars in March.

Several films are vying for top honors. In the Best Film – Drama category, nominees include Frankenstein, Hamnet, It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, and Sinners. The Best Film – Musical or Comedy category features Blue Moon, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, Nouvelle Vague, and One Battle After Another.

International cinema is also celebrated, with It Was Just an Accident, No Other Choice, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sirât, and The Voice of Hind Rajab nominated for Best Non-English Language Film. Animation fans have a choice between Arco, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2.

The acting categories are highly competitive. For Best Female Actor – Drama, Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Jennifer Lawrence (Die, My Love), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), Julia Roberts (After the Hunt), Tessa Thompson (Hedda), and Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby) are in contention. Leading men nominated for Best Male Actor – Drama include Joel Edgerton (Train Dreams), Oscar Isaac (Frankenstein), Dwayne Johnson (The Smashing Machine), Michael B Jordan (Sinners), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), and Jeremy Allen White (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere).

On the musical/comedy side, Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Amanda Seyfried (The Testament of Ann Lee), and Emma Stone (Bugonia) are nominated for Best Female Actor. Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), George Clooney (Jay Kelly), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Lee Byung‑Hun (No Other Choice), and Jesse Plemons (Bugonia) will compete for Best Male Actor.

Supporting acting categories also boast strong contenders. Emily Blunt (The Smashing Machine), Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value), Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), Amy Madigan (Weapons), and Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) are nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor. Benicio Del Toro (One Battle After Another), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Paul Mescal (Hamnet), Sean Penn (One Battle After Another), Adam Sandler (Jay Kelly), and Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value) are up for Best Supporting Male Actor.

Beyond acting and directing, films like Avatar: Fire and Ash, F1, KPop Demon Hunters, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Sinners, Weapons, Wicked: For Good, and Zootopia 2 are recognized for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. The Best Director category includes Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another), Ryan Coogler (Sinners), Guillermo del Toro (Frankenstein), Jafar Panahi (It Was Just an Accident), Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value), and Chloe Zhao (Hamnet).

The Golden Globes also honor the craft of storytelling. Nominations for Best Screenplay go to Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another), Ronald Bronstein & Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme), Ryan Coogler (Sinners), Jafar Panahi (It Was Just an Accident), Eskil Vogt & Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value), and Chloé Zhao & Maggie O’Farrell (Hamnet). Finally, the awards will also recognize outstanding musical achievements with categories for Best Original Song and Best Original Score.
