Ghana has moved to reassure Israeli nationals that they will continue to receive the country’s famed hospitality, following a brief diplomatic dispute.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced on Thursday, December 11, that recent reports from Ghana’s Embassy in Israel indicate no ill-treatment, restrictions, or harassment of Ghanaian travellers arriving in the country.
“I am able to confirm that the latest group of Ghanaian travellers arriving in Israel have not encountered any ill-treatment, restrictions or impediments according to official reports received from Ghana’s Embassy in Israel,” Mr. Ablakwa stated.
The Minister emphasized Ghana’s commitment to both protecting the dignity of its citizens abroad and maintaining positive international relations. He affirmed that Ghana will extend its well-known hospitality to all Israeli visitors.
“The Government of Ghana shall be unwavering in safeguarding the dignity of our nationals and other nationals as we pursue our avowed foreign policy of friendship with all nations and enmity towards none,” he added.
This assurance follows an amicable resolution between both governments after Ghana deported three Israeli nationals in response to the reported ill-treatment and deportation of three Ghanaians from Israel.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 10, 2025, the reciprocal deportation was a necessary action taken after the three Ghanaian nationals were deported from Israel under what the Ministry described as “unacceptable circumstances.”
In a Facebook post announcing the decision, Mr. Ablakwa stated, “The government of Ghana has been compelled to activate appropriate reciprocal action by deporting three Israelis who arrived in Ghana earlier today following the ill-treatment and unwarranted deportation of three Ghanaians.” He further noted that both governments have now reached an agreement to resolve the issue.
