The Ghana Police Service has honoured twenty officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty this year.

A solemn and moving Police Memorial Ceremony was held at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The ceremony featured a roll call where the names of the fallen officers were read out, a poignant tribute to their sacrifice.

The event served as a platform to pay respects to the men and women of the Ghana Police Service who died while working to ensure the safety and security of the nation. Details regarding the specific incidents that led to the officers’ deaths were not immediately available, but officials emphasized the inherent risks associated with police work.

“This is a difficult day for all of us in the service,” a senior police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, stated. “We remember our colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice, and we recommit ourselves to serving and protecting the people of Ghana with courage and integrity.”

The Police Administration has assured the families of the deceased that they will receive all the necessary support during this challenging time. Further details about support packages and investigations into the incidents are expected to be released in the coming days.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the Ministry of Interior and other government officials, as well as family members and colleagues of the fallen officers. It underscored the nation’s gratitude for the service of its police personnel.
