Accra is set to witness a significant display of security preparedness as the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and other security agencies conduct a Joint Show of Force Exercise this Thursday, December 11, 2025.
The exercise, a collaborative effort involving the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Customs Division of the Excise, Preventive and Immigration Services, and the Ghana Immigration Service, will commence at 9:00 a.m. from the Black Star Square.
According to a statement from the Department of Public Relations of the GAF, the route will cover major streets in the capital, culminating back at the Black Star Square. The aim is to enhance operational readiness and deter criminal activity as the country approaches the festive season.
“This exercise is to assure the public of the preparedness of Ghana’s security services to maintain peace and stability,” the statement read. It will also strengthen cooperation between the various agencies, ensuring a robust national security posture to counter emerging threats.
The GAF has clarified that this is a routine training activity, and residents should expect an increased security presence and possible temporary traffic disruptions in Accra and surrounding areas. “The public is therefore encouraged to remain calm and go about their lawful duties,” the statement concluded.
Authorities are urging motorists and pedestrians to cooperate with security personnel during the exercise to ensure a smooth and safe operation.
