Ghana Education Service and NADMO Act to Prevent Future Bee Attacks After Anloga School Incident

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is collaborating with the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the Anloga District Assembly to eliminate the bee colony responsible for a fatal attack at Anloga E.P. Basic School in the Volta Region.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 19, 2025, the GES detailed a coordinated effort to remove the bees’ habitat and enhance safety measures around schools to prevent future incidents.

The intervention follows a tragic bee attack on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, which impacted 30 individuals within the school community. According to the GES, five teachers were stung while attempting to rescue pupils, alongside three school feeding cooks and 22 students.

Sadly, two of the students succumbed to their injuries. Management of the GES extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed sympathy to the entire Anloga E.P. Basic School community.

The Service wished a speedy recovery to those injured and pledged its full support throughout their recovery process. “We are committed to ensuring the well-being of our students and staff,” the statement read.

The GES also commended the swift response of teachers, fire service personnel, and community members, noting that their actions mitigated a potentially more devastating situation. Further updates on preventative measures will be communicated as they become available.
