Fire Destroys Temporary Structures in Afful Nkwanta

Local News

A fire outbreak has destroyed several temporary wooden structures at Afful Nkwanta, an area in the Ashanti Region occupied by scrap dealers, leaving many counting their losses.

The blaze, which broke out in the late hours of Saturday, January 17, rapidly spread through the makeshift wooden stalls due to the highly combustible nature of the materials used in their construction.

Eyewitnesses say the fire started suddenly and intensified within minutes, forcing traders and residents to flee to safety.

Items including scrap materials, tools, and personal belongings were razed by the inferno.

Although the exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, residents suspect it may have been triggered by an open flame or electrical fault within the congested settlement.

Fire personnel have been dispatched to the scene to contain the situation and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

No casualties have been reported, but the extent of damage is said to be significant.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident.
