Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has urged staff at the Circle Tax Service Centre to prioritize discipline, integrity, and professionalism as Ghana strives to meet its domestic revenue goals.
During a working visit to the centre, Dr. Forson stated his intention was to listen to concerns, provide encouragement, and collaborate on strategies to enhance revenue collection.
He expressed confidence that the nation’s revenue targets for the year are realistic and within reach. “What we need now is commitment, discipline, and integrity in the way we mobilise revenue,” the Minister told the staff.
Dr. Forson outlined three key areas for improvement: minimising external interference in tax operations, strengthening compliance measures, and increasing the use of electronic systems to close loopholes and improve efficiency.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to performance-based accountability, promising to reward diligent officers who achieve results and to hold accountable those who hinder the work of the tax offices or the nation’s revenue efforts.
“Ghana cannot afford anything less,” he emphasised, calling on all personnel to dedicate themselves to building a more robust, equitable, and sustainable revenue system.
