FiDCon 2025 concluded on Saturday, November 30, at the R.S. Amegashie Auditorium, University of Ghana, marking a significant milestone for Ghana’s burgeoning creative and technology sectors.
The conference, which drew between 500 and 1,000 attendees, brought together designers, engineers, developers, students, founders, and cultural leaders under the theme “Design, Technology, and Culture Shaping the Future.”
The day began with practical workshops aimed at skill-building. Bright Etornam Sunu led a session on ‘Serverless Fundamentals,’ exploring modern serverless architecture and its impact on scalable product development. Simultaneously, Vanessa O’Hara Aidoo of MTN Ghana facilitated ‘Designing Trust at Scale,’ focusing on building user confidence through trust-centered design.
Later, Cee Menka and Kwaku Ohemeng Oware Jr. presented ‘Visions in Motion,’ a discussion on design, identity, and storytelling, and the growing influence of African creative perspectives globally.
A key highlight was the ‘Tech for Social Good’ panel, featuring Dela Kumahor, Klenam Fiadzoe, Ibrahim Misto (Chief Digital Officer, MTN Ghana), and Emmanuel Ofori (Director of Innovations, Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations). Moderated by Isaac Newton-Acquah, the panel explored how technology, partnerships, and policy can drive social impact in Ghana.
“We need to build responsible, people-centered products,” stated Isaac Newton-Acquah, summarizing the core message of the panel discussion.
The afternoon sessions continued with insights from engineering leader Kwesi Dadson on ‘Building for Scale,’ addressing the challenges of growing tech teams and products in African markets. Filmmaker Nana Kofi Asihene then delivered ‘Directors’ Cut,’ a deep dive into visual storytelling and its cultural impact.
A lively ‘Creator Playbook Live’ conversation with Dessy Ocean, Areyouagod, and Reagan Marfo explored strategy and authenticity in content creation. The cultural focus continued with Baves O and Kelalie of Crux Global presenting ‘Sound, Strategy and Culture,’ examining the role of music and identity in Africa’s creative industries.
The conference also provided a platform for emerging innovators through the ‘Makers’ Showcase,’ where three individuals demonstrated their products.
FiDCon 2025 culminated in a cinematic presentation of the ‘Design Your Greatness 2025’ recap film, showcasing a year of community impact and creative advocacy.
The event was made possible by the support of MTN Ghana as the presenting sponsor, and a host of other partners including Interaction Design Foundation, Mobbin, Google, and Tech Leaders Africa. FiDCon organizers expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort in elevating Ghana’s design, technology, and creative culture.
