Headmaster Joshua Vidzro of Dzodze‑Penyi Senior High School in the Volta Region has been accused of sexually abusing a final‑year student and impregnating her, the girl alleged in a series of statements to media outlets.

The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Citi News that she informed the headmaster of her pregnancy during a recorded phone call. She said he responded by demanding she take specific actions or face severe consequences.

In an interview with Fafa FM, the same student recounted travelling with the headmaster and another woman to transport a sick colleague to the hospital. After the colleague was admitted, the woman left the pair, leaving the student alone with Vidzro.

She claimed the headmaster then bought her a meal and escorted her to an apartment he insisted was his own. “After eating, I wanted to dispose of the pack, and he directed me to the kitchen. When I came back, he locked the door, threw the keys away and carried me to the bedroom while I was screaming,” she said.

According to the allegation, Vidzro removed her clothing and forced himself on her before sending her back to school. The girl added that she later fell ill, sought medical tests, and was confirmed pregnant.

She told reporters that when she disclosed the pregnancy to the headmaster, he threatened her life, stating, “If you cannot terminate the pregnancy, I will kill you.”

A second pupil, aged fourteen, is reported to have made similar accusations against the headmaster.

In response, the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Volta Region ordered Vidzro to step aside immediately. He has been instructed to hand over all duties, records and school property to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North and to avoid any contact with the affected students while investigations continue.

The Municipal Director has taken over temporary administration of the school. Both GES and the Ministry of Education have stressed that student safety remains a top priority and pledged a thorough investigation, with updates to be provided as the case progresses.
