Bodo/Glimt Stuns Dortmund in Major Upset

International

Borussia Dortmund’s chances of automatically qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages suffered a setback as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening.

The German side now sit on 11 points, outside the automatic qualification spots, while Bodo/Glimt remain without a win in the competition but have shown resilience.

Julian Brandt appeared to set Dortmund on course for victory, opening the scoring with a goal assisted by Fabio Silva. However, veteran defender Haitam Aleesami responded for the Norwegian outfit, heading home from a corner.

Brandt restored Dortmund’s lead in the second half, but their joy was short-lived as former AC Milan forward Jens Petter Hauge swiftly equalized again for Bodo/Glimt.

Despite dominating possession and registering 22 shots to Bodo/Glimt’s seven, Dortmund couldn’t find a winner. Kjetil Knutsen’s side earned a deserved point, celebrated enthusiastically by their travelling fans.

Before the match, Dortmund honoured club legends Dede and Marco Reus. Reus, who recently joined LA Galaxy, was officially named a club ambassador after a stellar career with the Bundesliga side, making over 400 appearances and captaining the team for five seasons.

Dortmund will next face Tottenham Hotspur in their Champions League campaign on Tuesday, January 20. Bodo/Glimt are scheduled to host Manchester City on the same day.
