Aston Villa Ends 18-Year Wait with Victory at Newcastle

Aston Villa secured a 2-0 victory over Newcastle, marking their first Premier League win at St James’ Park since April 2005.

This triumph underlines the progress made under boss Unai Emery, as Villa bounced back from last Sunday’s loss to Everton.

Villa’s win keeps them third in the table, firmly in the title race, just four points behind leaders Arsenal.

Emery praised his players for a ‘complete’ performance, with Emiliano Martinez’s superb save and Emiliano Buendia’s wonderful curling effort being highlights.

Buendia stated, ‘We have to look to be there and fight until the end, fighting for the Champions League spots.’

Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy added that Villa’s win was ‘just more confirmation really of the excellent work that Unai Emery has done with this Villa team.’
