Asante Kotoko Ends 4-Game Losing Streak with Win Over Dreams

Sports

Asante Kotoko secured a vital 1-0 win against Dreams FC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, ending a frustrating four-match winless streak in the Premier League.

The game was a typically bruising encounter, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut opportunities. It was a tense affair for the fans packed into the stadium.

Kwame Opoku emerged as the hero for the Porcupine Warriors, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Dreams FC to score from close range. He had earlier spurned a good chance, but showed good composure when the opportunity arose.

The striker expertly placed a left-footed shot past Dreams FC goalkeeper Osman Rahman after the visitors failed to fully clear a dangerous ball into their box.

Dreams FC threw everything at Kotoko in the final minutes searching for an equalizer. They nearly found it when a late effort was cleared off the line by a resolute Kotoko defence, ensuring the three points stayed in Kumasi.

Players from both sides visibly battled fatigue as the match wore on, a testament to the intensity and physical demands of the competition.

Kotoko marginally edged the possession battle, while the shot count was even between the two teams.

This victory propels Asante Kotoko to third place on the league table, a significant boost to their title aspirations. Conversely, Dreams FC’s woes continue as they drop back into the relegation zone.
