Agyinasare's Pain - Divorce, Rebellion, and Disownment

Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder and Prelate of Perez Chapel International, recently shared a deeply personal narrative of family disruption and youthful rebellion. In an interview on Prime Morning with Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli, Archbishop Agyinasare revealed how his parents’ divorce and his subsequent expulsion from school profoundly shaped his life and eventual path to ministry. This is the story of how early adversity forged a leader who now guides countless others through their own challenges.

The Archbishop’s journey began with a family fracture. His parents divorced when he was just seven years old, a separation that left deep scars. “They would speak negatively about each other to us, the children. That affected me deeply,” Archbishop Agyinasare recounted. This early exposure to conflict and division created an unstable foundation, contributing to emotional challenges that would surface later in his adolescence.

During his time at St. Martin’s Secondary School, Archbishop Agyinasare‘s life took a turn toward waywardness. He succumbed to peer pressure and engaged in substance abuse, experimenting with marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco. “In St. Martin’s, I went wild and did all kinds of things,” he confessed. These choices led to a downward spiral, culminating in his expulsion from school in Form 5. “In Form 5 first term, I was thrown out of school for being a bad boy. If I hadn’t registered for the O’ Levels, I couldn’t have written them,” Archbishop Agyinasare explained.

The consequences of his actions were severe. His father, a military officer, felt betrayed and disowned him. “It was so bad that my dad disowned me. He thought I was into drugs and all kinds of stuff. He felt this was not the barracks boy he raised, so he disowned me,” Archbishop Agyinasare remembered. The rejection from his father deepened his sense of isolation, even though he yearned for fulfillment and mistakenly believed his lifestyle would fill the emptiness.

In 1976, Agyinasare’s father relocated to Tamale. However, in 1978, Agyinasare was invited back home, offering a glimmer of hope for reconciliation. But the old habits lingered. “The same things that I had a problem with, that made my dad throw me out—when I came back, I continued doing them,” he admitted. Despite the reconciliation, he struggled to break free from the patterns that had caused so much pain.

Inspired by his experiences, Archbishop Agyinasare authored a book titled *Arrows Rising*, which explores the far-reaching impacts of fractured families on children. The book delves into the psychological issues and destructive behaviors that can result from broken homes, offering insights into healing and restoration.

Archbishop Agyinasare’s story is a powerful reflection on the enduring effects of broken homes and the critical need for guidance during formative years. It highlights the importance of addressing the root causes of behavioral challenges and the potential for overcoming adversity. The Archbishop’s candid revelations serve as a testament to resilience and the possibility of finding purpose even after experiencing deep personal struggles. His journey, shaped by divorce, rebellion, and disownment, ultimately led to a path of healing and a life dedicated to guiding others.

His experiences emphasize the importance of addressing the root causes of behavioral challenges and the lasting impact of family dynamics. Through his candid sharing, he offers hope and guidance to others facing similar struggles. For a deeper understanding of these issues, consider purchasing *Arrows Rising* and reflecting on how Archbishop Agyinasare’s story can provide insights into your own journey.
