Legal counsel for former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has indicated that evidence presented by the prosecution is unexpectedly bolstering the defence’s case.

Samuel Atta Akyea, speaking on Channel One TV on Thursday, December 18, observed that the testimony of the prosecution’s second witness appears to support Mr. Adu-Boahene’s position.

Mr. Akyea emphasized that the defence team is yet to call any witnesses or present formal arguments in court.

According to the lawyer, the explanations provided by the prosecution witness have been largely exculpatory, offering context that aligns with his client’s actions and responsibilities while at the NSB.

He further stated that certain aspects of the testimony touched upon sensitive national security matters, reflecting positively on Mr. Adu-Boahene’s record.

“So far, we have not mounted our defence, but it is rather the prosecution’s second witness who is explaining matters in a way that is very exculpatory of our client,” Atta Akyea said.

“The witness has gone further to clarify certain national security issues which are entirely consistent with our client’s image and actions while in office.”

Mr. Akyea maintained that, despite the trial being in its early stages, the developments suggest the prosecution’s own evidence is highlighting aspects favourable to the defence, strengthening their confidence in Mr. Adu-Boahene’s case as proceedings continue.
