MAX and Bolt Partner for Electric Mobility in Ghana

Ghana’s leading ride-hailing platform, Bolt, has partnered with MAX, a major mobility solutions provider, to boost the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and make vehicle ownership more accessible for drivers nationwide.

The collaboration, announced today, will combine MAX’s expertise in affordable EVs and related services with Bolt’s extensive driver network. Both companies aim to transform urban transport and contribute to Ghana’s shift towards cleaner energy.

A key focus of the partnership is empowering drivers with a clear path to owning electric bikes. Drivers on the Bolt platform will be able to move from subscription models to full ownership, fostering long-term financial stability. The initiative promises lower vehicle access and operating costs, ultimately increasing driver earnings.

Beyond affordability, drivers will also benefit from MAX’s comprehensive support package, which includes insurance, helmets, maintenance services, and dedicated customer support, ensuring their safety and productivity on the road.

“This partnership marks a major milestone in our efforts to build a more sustainable and economically inclusive mobility ecosystem in Ghana,” said Enoch Amobire, Operations Manager at Bolt Ghana. “By working with MAX, we are offering drivers access to affordable electric vehicles while empowering them with real pathways to ownership. This collaboration brings us closer to our long-term goal of reducing emissions and improving the overall driver experience on the Bolt platform.”

Bolt anticipates that integrating MAX’s electric fleet will enhance its operational efficiency and demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability by providing a reliable supply of modern, eco-friendly vehicles.

MAX, for its part, will utilize the partnership to expand its financial inclusion model. Access to Bolt’s larger driver base will allow MAX to refine its credit-scoring systems and create more flexible subscription plans, potentially reaching drivers previously excluded from traditional financing options.

“Partnering with Bolt allows us to scale clean mobility while unlocking real financial opportunities for thousands of riders,” stated Abolaji Odukoya, Country Operations Manager at MAX Ghana. “By combining MAX’s EV and credit innovation with Bolt’s extensive driver network, we’re making electric vehicle ownership more accessible and affordable, thereby empowering drivers to build sustainable livelihoods and shaping a more inclusive future for Ghana’s transport ecosystem.”

The partnership represents a significant stride towards a more sustainable and inclusive transport sector in Ghana, combining MAX’s EV expertise with Bolt’s established driver network to create economic opportunities and shape the future of urban mobility.

MAX is a leading African provider of EV mobility and financing, operating in Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Bolt, founded in 2013, is a European-based shared mobility platform.
