The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly, led by Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow-Sapong, who was present at the scene to coordinate efforts. While the Tema fire caused damage, the coordinated response averted a potential disaster, highlighting the critical importance of vigilance and preparedness.

The Flour Mills fire, which broke out at the company’s Tema facility, is currently under investigation to determine its cause. The blaze affected multiple floors, specifically from the third to the tenth levels of the building. Firefighters from the Tema Regional Command worked tirelessly to combat the flames, finally extinguishing the fire at approximately 12:39 a.m.

The swift and coordinated response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was crucial in containing the Flour Mills fire and preventing its escalation. Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow-Sapong took command on-site, working alongside Tema Regional Fire Officer, ACFOII Patrick Sallah; Greater Accra Regional Fire Officer, ACFOI Nissau; and Deputy Director of Operations at GNFS Headquarters, ACFOII Osmon Annum. Chief Fire Officer Ntow-Sapong also praised the staff at Flour Mills for their prompt reporting of the fire. Emphasizing the importance of vigilance, she urged the public to immediately report any fire outbreaks to minimize damage and ensure swift intervention.

The fire damage at Flour Mills was significant, affecting armored cables, electrical panels, and portions of the production machinery. However, thanks to the firefighters’ efforts, vital installations such as the flour warehouse, production equipment, and office spaces were preserved. One worker was treated for smoke inhalation at the GPHA Clinic and is in stable condition.
