The University of Media, Arts and Communication, known as UniMAC-IJ, witnessed a landmark moment in its campus life when dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy took the stage for the institution’s first-ever Artiste Night. The event, powered by WatsUp Agency, drew a massive student turnout and has been widely described as one of the biggest campus entertainment experiences in recent memory.

From the moment Stonebwoy made his grand entrance, the energy inside the venue was relentless. Fans sang along to every lyric, their voices merging with the bass-heavy sound system that pulsed through the night. The award-winning performer delivered hit after hit, weaving his signature dance moves into a set that left little doubt about his status as one of Ghana’s most commanding live performers.

The evening was not a one-man show, however. DJ Raya, also known as Queen Raya, served as the official female DJ and delivered an explosive set that moved seamlessly between Amapiano, Ghanaian hiplife, Afrobeats and party anthems. Guest DJs Sky and Android DJ kept the momentum high with their own blends of trending sounds and Ghanaian favourites, ensuring the crowd never had a reason to sit down.

MC Tokyo, the official host for the night, brought a professional and charismatic energy to the proceedings, while guest MC Nana King demonstrated masterful crowd control, creating interactive moments that became talking points on social media long after the event ended. Guest performer Tim Jeezy added further hype, sustaining the audience’s intensity through the late hours.

The social media footprint of the night was immediate and substantial. Videos and highlights from the event circulated not only across Ghana but internationally, sparking widespread conversation about the standard of campus entertainment in the country. For UniMAC-IJ, a university that has historically focused on media and communication training, the Artiste Night represented a deliberate effort to enrich student life beyond the lecture hall.

The event was backed by a roster of sponsors including Red Bull Energy Drink, Club Shandy, Red Rooster, Lilo Long Grain Rice and Hifi Filter, with media and strategic support from WatsUp TV and The Living Stone Foundation.

WatsUp On Campus is an initiative of WatsUp TV designed to deliver world-class entertainment experiences to tertiary campuses across Ghana. The programme aims to connect students with top-tier music, culture and youth-focused activities. The UniMAC-IJ edition has set a new benchmark for what campus entertainment can look like in Ghana, raising expectations for future events on the platform.

For UniMAC-IJ, the maiden Artiste Night was more than a party. It was a statement of intent about the kind of vibrant, culturally engaged campus community the university is building.
