Adrobaa Roman Catholic School of the Ahafo Region lifted the Milo U‑13 Champions League trophy on Saturday at KNUST’s Paa Joe Park, marking the tournament’s comeback after a six‑year break.
The sixth edition, organised by Nestlé Ghana in partnership with the Ghana Education Service and endorsed by the Ghana Football Association, gathered more than one‑hundred‑thousand schoolchildren from all sixteen regions. Players aged nine to thirteen progressed through district, zonal and national phases before the final showdown.
In the decisive match, Adrobaa R/C defeated Franko International School of the Western North Region to claim the title, a trophy, jerseys, training vests, medals and GH₵ 50,000 for sports development. Franko International received a trophy, two jersey sets, a training vest, medals and GH₵ 30,000, while St Francis Preparatory School of the Bono Region secured third place with medals and GH₵ 20,000.
“We are thrilled to witness the young talents showcasing their skills today. The kids’ performance is truly impressive, and we hope to see this tournament continue annually without interruptions,” said Salomé Azevedo, Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana.
Deborah Kwablah, Manager of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs at Nestlé Ghana, added, “We want to see these young talents succeed both on and off the pitch,” urging teachers and parents to keep education at the forefront of their sporting journey.
Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah encouraged the participants, noting, “The Milo U‑13 Champions League is not just about winning matches; it’s about shaping dreams, building confidence, and instilling values like hard work, perseverance and fair play.” He recalled that the competition has previously unearthed stars such as Abdul Majeed Waris, Fatawu Issahaku and Kelvin Krumah.
The tournament’s revival after a COVID‑19‑induced hiatus underscores Ghana’s commitment to grassroots sport, offering a platform for the nation’s youngest footballers to develop their skills and potentially rise to national and international prominence.
